A class that I am currently in for my bachelor’s degree is Biblical Hermeneutics, which is the most difficult class I have ever taken. The entire concept of the class is based off of a single section of scripture that we choose in the first week of class. The scripture I chose is Ephesians 1:11-14, “In him we were also chosen having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.” This section of scripture speaks so much truth, especially to me in this current season of life. Everything that has happened in my life has led me to this point. It is the reason why I am doing this mission, one thing that I have lacked communication on is the why. Why am I doing this? Why should you support me? You see, I have lived my life in accordance to his will, I have listened to the call that he has had on my life and I have gone where he has sent me. Although I don’t know the full extent of my calling, I know the next step in front of me. Each time I listen to the voice of God and obey, another step is revealed. I have placed my hope in Christ, and I believe that he will provide for me along the way.
Now for the why. I would like to start off by saying I wish this was easy. This decision to leave my family and friends for 11 months was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. With that being said, I know that it is the right decision. The reason why I am leaving everything behind is because people need Jesus. Now yes, there are people here in my community that need Jesus just as much. I would be naive to say that the people in these countries have the same opportunities to find Christ like we do. The truth is, we as Americans have so much more opportunity to find Christ than those overseas. My job in this coming season is to bring the hope of Christ to those who have no hope. And to help bring joy to those who have no joy.
When you support me in prayer as well as financially, not only are you supporting me, you are supporting those that will come into contact with me. You will be supporting sick children, orphans, the hungry, and those who are thirsty for Christ. To those that have supported with either with prayer or finances, thank you. Words could never express the gratitude I have for your support.
Never give up, no matter what it looks like on the surface. Remember, this is God’s idea and His mission. His Word never returns void. I love you. Nana
